Read what some people have to say about User Friendly Psychiatry:

“User Friendly Psychiatry provided Assertive Outreach Training for our newly formed, Kent based Assertive Outreach team, in January 2009.

This training option was identified via the National Assertive Outreach Forum, and provided a tailor made training package to fit with the learning needs, skill mix and varied experience of the members of our service.

Close communication with, and attention to detail by the trainers during the process of commissioning this training allowed for smooth planning, appropriate identification of what was required and successful funding applications.

A flexible approach to meeting the needs of the attendees, and the practicalities of setting up the training also supported its success.

Our training included comprehensive background information and an evidence based approach to assertive outreach service provision. The addition of solid team based activities and learning, contributed to a positive team experience for the people involved.

Both trainers have significant and varied experience in the field of Assertive Outreach in Mental Health. Each having particular areas of expertise.

We are likely to commission a follow up day with User Friendly Psychiatry.”

“I just wanted to say thanks again for the training and to let you know that hopefully things are slowly being sorted out for us. It must be weird for you wondering what happens to teams after you say goodbye so I thought you'd want to know that the training has had, and continues to have, a big impact on us all and we have a clearer idea about how to take things forward. Also, I personally have been working on clarifying my role within the team and communicating this more clearly. ”

Older Adult Residential Care Home Carers
Greater Manchester - November 2006

“N'gage is the Manchester's assertive outreach service. We use a teamwork approach to provide care and support to people with severe mental illness who have complex needs and difficulties engaging with mainstream psychiatric services. Caroline Williams of User Friendly Psychiatry has provided regular group clinical supervision for my team for the past five months.

Adopting an adult learning and case formulation based approach, the team has greatly benefited from her input: as well as using the sessions as a learning tool via examining and working through 'real life' complex cases, Caroline's support has had a positive impact on the quality of reviews and care planning and had led to improved team dynamics. Team members have consistantly told me that they find Caroline's work with them invaluable and feel that it has made a real difference to their practice.”

Nigel Spencer, Operations Manager.
N'gage Assertive Outreach Service, Manchester. - July 2005

“'Case study on Capacity Legislation was useful'

'I liked chatting to the other people and listening to what other homes do in different situations'

'I liked communication and managing people of this client group. Engaging people using different methods and activities. I also liked the group discussion'

'I liked the definitions of challenging behaviour, risk assessments and theory into practice'”
