UFP Policies
UFP provided a 1 day training course, based on current DH recommended guidance for MCA / DOLS training. This was repeated as 2 seperate training days and was provided by our experienced trainer, Krystal Hemingway. The training was well evaluated.
UFP provided a one day orientation to CBT formulation and intervention strategies. This was led by our experienced therapist and trainer, Tim Martin. This training was well evaluated.
We were honoured to have Dr Padesky present at a one day workshop, all the way from CA, USA. Dr Padesky is considered one of the most influential CBT therapists and provided a stimulating workshop to a national audience in Manchester. Photographs of the event can be found on the UFP website.
As part of our spring / summer series Professor Lovell provided a stimulating workshop on CBT for OCD, examining both clinical skills training and service provision awareness. This was a well evaluated workshop.
As part of our spring / summer workshop series, Dr Berry provided an interactive workshop on attachment theory and adult mental health. The workshop was well attended and well evaluated.
Tim Martin from UFP delivered an individually tailored training programme for a small team working in condition management. The programme was authored by Tim Martin and Caroline Williams and has been well received by many teams
Caroline Williams & Mike Firn from UFP Ltd provided the AO training package, consisting of and introduction to Assertive Outreach practice ('Assertive Outreach 101') and the Team Approach in Practice. The team evaluated the training very positively and the trainers assisted the teams in future policy and practice issues.

This one day workshop looked at practical skills to help the person who self harms within an overall framework of recovery and thriving.
Mike and his colleague Marion (an expert by experience) demonstrated the current working definitions of self injury, self harm and repetitive self harm syndrome and related them to definitions for suicide and highlighted how to separate and work with self harm and para-suicide and the importance of doing so for workers and clients.
Mike presented the SHARS risk assessment tool, a person centred risk and safety assessment and management tool published in 2005 and discussed its benefits and considered much of the current evidence about self harm.
The afternoon session looked at helping people to deal with crises, to plan for their wellness rather than illness and to ultimately make sense of their own self harm
As part of our masterclass series, Professor Karina Lovell from the University of Manchester and Nicky Lidbetter from Anxiety UK provided an outstanding workshop event at the Freemasons Hall in Manchester. The event was well attended and well evaluated.

To provide a half day training workshop on epilepsy, the different clinical presentations and the do's and don't of "first aid" management.
Janssen Cilag commissioned UFP to provide a pilot training session on issues surrounding needle phobia when administering injections for Community Mental Health Nurses (CMHN's). The training was well evaluated and UFP continue to work with Janssen Cilag on designing a training session that will build on the evaluations from the 5th Dec 07. The training was delivered by Caroline Williams & Tim Martin
UFP are regularly commissioned by Tameside Training Consortium to deliver basic awareness training on epilepsy. The training was delivered by experienced Midwife and General Nurse, Fiona Bryant. The training was well evaluated and well received.
Caerphilly AO team were a newly formed team to meet the local service plan to deliver AO services across Gwent NHS Trust. UFP delivered an intensive 4 day programme which was greatly received by the team. Day 1 - Evidence base & History; day 2- Psychosocial interventions; day 3 - Team building and the team approach; day 4 - Policy development day
UFP were commissioned to deliver three 2 day programmes to 3 teams. Manchester Assertive Outreach Service had been established for some time by HARP, a 3rd sector provider. HARP had recently been awarded the tender for the delivery of AO across Manchester. The new teams were formed in partnership with Manchester Mental Health & Social Care NHS Trust. UFP delivered 6 training days delivered as 2 days per team. Day 1 involved team building and the AO team approach and day 2 involved evidenced based AO practice. Both days were delivered by Caroline Williams and Mike Firn.
UFP were commissioned by Cumbria County Council to provide a bespoke training session to ASW's. The training was delivered by Tim Martin and was well received by delegates
