User Friendly Psychiatry Ltd (UFP) is a private company providing consultancy, training and cognitive behaviour psychotherapy services. Established in 2005, UFP has enjoyed steady growth.
UFP is managed by Caroline Williams, a Registered Mental Health Nurse and Accredited Cognitive & Behavioural Psychotherapist. All services provided by UFP are led & delivered by Caroline and our team of associates.

During her NHS career, Caroline worked as a clinician and manager within a
range of mental health services, however she enjoyed a career mainly within
the community in mental health and learning disability services. She also managed
services within the community including residential care for people with learning
disabilities, assertive outreach for people with severe mental illnesses, crisis
resolution and home treatment & community mental health teams.
She has recently worked in higher education and occupies a teaching fellow post at the University of Manchester, School of Nursing, Midwifery & Social Work. Caroline also provides clinical advice to the Healthcare Commission to assist in resolving 2nd stage complaints in the NHS.
Caroline is an accredited behavioural and cognitive psychotherapist. She is accredited with the British Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and is also registered with the UKCP as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist. Caroline also acts as an expert witness and has received certification of expert witness accreditation by Cardiff University / Bond Solon Legal Training Consultancy. Caroline is a steering group member for the National Forum for Assertive Outreach & Institute for Health Sciences Psychological Therapies Research Network.

Mike Firn has been a Mental Health Nurse for over 20 years. He has thirteen
years experience using the Assertive Outreach Model in England, and has managed
and set up services including Assertive Outreach, Home Treatment and Early Intervention
in Psychosis. He has worked for the National Institute of Mental Health in England
working as Service Improvement Lead in the redesign of community services and
workforces across London. Mike is also Chair of the National Forum for Assertive
Outreach in England.
He has co-authored, with Prof. Tom Burns, the book Assertive Outreach in Mental Health; a manual for practitioners, published by Oxford University Press in 2002 and numerous journal articles. Mike has provided on site training, facilitation and external review pertaining to Assertive Outreach, Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment & Adult mental health service redesign. In particular he can bring a wide perspective of clinical expertise, operational management experience and service improvement theory and skills to local issues.

Paul has been practicing Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for over eight years
and is fully accredited with the BABCP. He is also the Programme Director for
post graduate studies in CBT for psychosis at Manchester University’s
COPE initiative with a special interest in psychological responses to traumatic
life events, which is the topic of his PhD.
Paul has extensive experience as a therapist in primary and secondary care, as well as in private practice. He has worked as a research therapist on two national randomised control trials, and has been widely published nationally and internationally. He has participated in conferences and debates at various institutions including the Institute of Psychiatry, the Scottish Psychiatric Association and venues in Holland, Spain, Canada and New Zealand.
He is an experienced trainer and helped to found CASL (the campaign for the abolition of the schizophrenia label) in 2006.

Krystal Hemingway is an RMN with 10 years experience working with Older Adults
with mental health problems. She has a Diploma in Nursing Studies, an Honours
Degree in Healthcare Studies, a Professional Diploma in Dementia Care and a
Masters Degree in Health Care Law. Krystal is also a qualified Non-Medical Prescriber.
Krystal has been involved in local initiatives in developing more integrated services in line with the NSF and government guidance, she has been involved in the project management for developing local Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) and the local Partnership for Older Peoples Project (POPPs) which has included the development of an Intensive Support Team for older adults. She has been involved in policy making within her Trust surrounding Non-Medical Prescribing and is a member of Trusts Training & Development Council, and teaches on a regular basis at the University of Bradford.
Krystal is an experienced trainer and practitioner and has been diligently working for UFP as an associate since the earlier days. She has always received excellent feedback for her events and always has delegates at the edge of their seats waiting to ask more questions!
Krystal is also a CMHT Team Leader in Bradford and a Magistrate.

Tim is a registered mental health nurse who has completed extensive further
training in Cognitive Behavioural, EMDR and Schema Therapies. He has 25 years
experience working with adults with a wide range of health needs in various
health care settings and roles. He also has wide-ranging experience of teaching
and training.
He currently works Part-time as a Teaching Fellow at Manchester University, and Part-time in private practice.
Tim provides both individual and group therapies for problems such as: Chronic Pain; Anxiety; Depression; Phobias; PTSD; Temper control problems and assertiveness training. He has also provided consultancy and training on Mental Health Issues at a wide variety of forums.

Mark Norman has been a Mental Health Nurse for over 25 years.
Mark was the National Project Manager for Access Booking and Choice in Mental Health in 2003 for the National Institute of Mental Health in England sharing responsibly for implementation of the national booking target.
He has thirteen years experience working in Addiction services working regionally and nationally in his field. He specialises in Harm Reduction and specifically in safer injecting techniques. Co author of a chapter in “Injecting Illicit Drugs” edited by Pates, McBride and Arnold, alongside several journal articles. Previously he was module manager for Harm Reduction Module of Diploma in Addiction Studies at Leeds Addiction Unit, West Yorkshire.
Mark has delivered training and facilitation in England and Northern Ireland in both addiction related subjects, team building and service improvement issues.
Mark has provided on site training, facilitation and external review pertaining to all aspects of Mental Health service redesign, HIV & Hepatitis, Safer injection techniques & detoxification techniques
Mark Norman is currently working as Service Improvement Specialist for Care Services Improvement Partnership (inc National Institute for Mental Health in England) developing local skills to redesign mental health and other services and workforces across the South West of England, whilst maintaining national roles and contacts.

Patricia is employed by a Local Authority and also has a Private Practice.
Her work with the Local Authority involves individual therapy with families,
group work, reporting to Court and training. The training undertaken includes
covers a broad range of subjects to multi-disciplinary teams as well as Joint
Investigation Training for the Police and Social Workers on communicating with
children.
Prior to working for the Local Authority, Patricia was employed by NHS Psychology Department, Adult Mental Health Department working with mild, moderate & severe mentally ill patients as well as those who misuse substances. Patricia is an BABCP accredited cognitive & behavioural psychotherapist.
Patricia supervises four counsellors employed by the Local Authority. She also sits on an Adoption Panel . Patricia has experience in reporting to both Family Court, Criminal and County Court. Patricia has been in practice for 15 years.

Gemma Wall is currently a Clinical Psychologist working in the NHS. Following graduating in Psychology (BSc) from the University of Wales, Cardiff, she worked as an assistant psychologist with TRU (Transitional Rehabilitation Unit) for people with acquired brain injury. Subsequently she worked for Mersey Forensic Psychology Services with people with convictions for serious offences, including sexual offences. This culminated in her doctorate thesis on this subject.
During her doctorate training she also further developed her interest in Neuropsychology and gained experience in working with people with epilepsy and other neurological conditions. This now is the basis of her work in the NHS both in residential and community settings.
Gemma has contributed to the national literature via a range of academic publications.
